MassBio Education Foundation and Halloran join forces on a Clinical Trial Oversight and Management Course--

BOSTON, MA – January 5, 2012 – Halloran Consulting Group (Halloran) and the Massachusetts Biotechnology Education Foundation (MassBioEd), today announced their cooperation to offer a six-week training course, facilitated by Halloran personnel, which focuses on effective management and oversight of outsourced clinical programs. This is the latest addition to MassBioEd's Biotech Learning Center, which targets educational offerings towards those already in the industry, and is a first-time collaboration between MassBioEd and Halloran.

"MassBioEd has been searching for an opportunity to partner with a leading specialty management group for the life sciences community," said MassBioEd Executive Director Lance Hartford. "We are delighted to have Halloran Consulting Group, offer this new, in-depth professional development program to our members."

In the diverse global environment of outsourced clinical programs, oversight and management remain a top priority for life science companies.  Regulatory scrutiny has never been keener, and improving skills and knowledge in the roles and responsibilities of both project and people management is critical for success.  Halloran and MassBioEd are sensitive to the current regulatory climate, and a course on Managing Clinical Trials could not come at a more appropriate time.

"We are very pleased to collaborate with MassBioEd for this course and we are thrilled to provide Halloran expertise in the detailed, in-depth workshop setting for which MassBioEd classes are known," said Laurie Halloran, President and CEO of Halloran.

The course, which is open to anyone in the life sciences industry, is available at a discount for members of the Massachusetts Biotechnology Council (MassBio).

"This course responds directly to an industry trend toward outsourcing clinical trials," said Robert K. Coughlin, MassBio President & CEO. "We are thrilled to be able to better train our members in effective and efficient clinical programs."

The course will begin on Thursday evening, April 26, 2012 and 3.5 hour weekly sessions will be held through May 31, 2012.  This workshop of six classes will provide practical knowledge and introduce the major skills needed to manage outsourced clinical studies within a CRO/sponsor environment, and will cover project planning and overview of regulatory implications. Using case studies and interactive exercises combined with lecture and discussion, participants will plan an outsourced project, select and qualify vendors, and set expectations for adequate documentation of oversight and communication to manage a clinical study. Participants will take away useful tools and techniques to apply immediately, and to assist them with building their skills in managing outsourced clinical projects in an increasingly scrutinized regulatory environment.
